A Meal not worth the risk...

We have established that you can consume your own placenta, and discovered some side effects of dong so. I am going to guess that you all are asking, what does it all mean?  Lets think about it like this, if a city is filled with women who have consumed their afterbirth what would that city look like. No offense to any women, but you all are emotional women I am sure it was worse back in the time of this text. So a city filled with women filled with rage, jitters, and tears is no paradise by any means. It goes back to Yahweh and how he has dealt with things on certain occasions, he was  a God of vengeance, wrath, and the ultimate deity.
In closing I still think it is quite strange for women to partake in this, but understanding the character of Yahweh and how he operates it makes sense to have this to be the form of punishment for the man who decides to be disobedient. His punishment is a women filled with rage, jitters, and a  unrefined women being in his house in a time of distress for a city.

(Eat at your Own risk)

Medicine cannnot find any scientific evidence behind the benefits of eating the placenta!!

Much to my surprise their is no proof of benefits for women eating their own placenta, but like the last case I presented their is a correlation between women who consumes her placenta, and some effects of doing so. The article reads this: "No matter how you decide to dish up your placenta, stop taking the pills or eating the meat if you feel sick after ingesting it" this quote and another one I am about to present can be found in the link below!

(My Face when I found that medicine could not provide any evidence of benefits of consuming the placenta)
Going back to the issue of side effect which I can draw from my research are: becoming jittery, feeling weird, and rage.  However strange these effects  may be the article still says this: The truth is there’s not much evidence to say whether the practice benefits humans. A few small studies have connected placenta-eating with increased breast-milk supply and pain relief (the latter only in rats).

So referring back to the verse read in Deuteronomy could Yahweh intend for these effects to take hold of women during the time of the siege of a city?  It would make sense, and if you think about it Yahweh is a vengeful God so in theory what could be more viscous than eating your own placenta?

regret of one womens account

While doing some digging on the topic I ran across a story that caught my attention, and it answered my question with some insight to the effects of eating afterbirth. In modern times "afterbirth" is referred to as the "placenta" and in this story one women takes placenta pills and she experienced many side effect that she regretted doing so here is what she recalls of taking placenta pills which I did not even know existed( shows how much I know about medicine lol) :

"After our son’s birth, I was meticulous about what went into my body. I declined all pain medication stronger than ibuprofen, and I even stopped using deodorant, fearing the rumors were true that aluminum might seep into my breast milk. I was a cheerful and healthy new mother. So why did I gobble placenta ground with what the processor mysteriously referred to as “cleansing herbs”? Somehow, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
But in my case, it was a terrible idea. Shortly after my first dose of two pills, I felt jittery and weird. By the next day, after just eight placenta pills, I was in tabloid-worthy meltdown mode, a frightening phase filled with tears and rage. This lasted another couple of awful days before my husband suggested that it wasn’t postpartum mommy madness finally making its appearance, but the hormone-and-goodness-knows-what-else-filled placenta pills. So we have answered the mystery question, but now I would like to see what side effects can occur besides this poor women story.

Can Women Eat Their afterbirth?

Reading through Deuteronomy last week was a big break from all the long and drawn out rules found in Leviticus, and Numbers. While reading through the chapter one of the most fascinating things that I found in this particular book was chapter 28 verses 56-57.  It speaks about a women who eats her own afterbirth here are the verses for you to read:
"56 The most gentle and sensitive woman among you--so sensitive and gentle that she would not venture to touch the ground with the sole of her foot--will begrudge the husband she loves and her own son or daughter 57 the afterbirth from her womb and the children she bears. For she intends to eat them secretly during the siege and in the distress that your enemy will inflict on you in your cities."
To be honest I really think it is quite strange that Yahweh commanded this for disobeying his laws, but I can see why this one would be so much punishment for a women to undertake. so the question I would like to find answers to is can women actually eat their afterbirth?
